Faculty of Theology

ABOUT FACULTY OF THEOLOGY

The Faculty of Theology was established for and dedicated to the purpose of educating persons for the Christian Ministry.  It attempts to understand and interpret the Christian faith in the broad context that will liberate the Church from social, cultural, economic and managerial incapacity which seem to hamper its holistic salvation.

The Faculty recognizes that theology is not an end in itself, but rather a means to an end that far transcends it.  Theology is an attempt to proclaim the good news of God to the contemporary world in an ordered and persuasive way, rendering its statements into accord with that great mystery of God’s redemption of the world through Jesus Christ.

While being part of the Lutheran tradition worldwide and Tanzania in particular, the Faculty of theology welcomes ecumenical students because it believes that theological education embraces holistic human needs. The Faulty of theology is gifted with a competent, dedicated, and experience teaching staff with international exposure. Apart from their academic excellence, the teaching staff is also well informed with the life of the local church that they bring into their teaching component in the classrooms.

The Faculty offers the following programs:

  1. A two year program of Certificate in Theology
  2. A four year program of Diploma in Theology
  3. A three year program of Bachelor of Theology.
